Love Never Fails
By Greta Sesheta
Scripture tells us that Love is patient and kind, not selfish or envious. It doesn’t misbehave or get easily provoked. It believes, hopes and endures all things. Love has never failed me. Communications, friendships, marriage and family— maybe, but Love never has.
There was a time in my life when I felt anxious and alone, isolated and rejected by people near and dear to me. I searched outside myself for security and a sense of belonging. I ‘found’ Agape, and realized that the unconditional love I had been seeking was within me all along.
Love doesn’t disappoint. In West Africa, the Adinkra tribe has a symbol that affirms, “Love never loses its way home.” That’s reassurance that the love I express, always comes back as my experience.
Love acts like a boomerang and as a magic potion. It’s what “makes the world go round” and is always “what the world needs now.” There appears to be much that is unlovable these times. Still we are commanded to, “Love God,” “Love your neighbor,” and “Love one another.”
When all looks dark and dreary, I can hear Rickie B.B. signing the Byars Beckwith lyric reminding us to “Trust Love. Lean on Love.”
Practice:
Follow 3 simple steps and Love the:
- Folks in front of you. Those standing in line, on the freeway, on the phone, and with seniority.
- Folks behind you. Climbing up the ladder, following in your footsteps, your ancestors re-entering this dimension as your descendants.
- Folks on either side of you. Walking this way with you, accompanying you on this journey, leaning into your Love231.
Then follow these 3 simple steps:
- Rise in Love.
Every morning. Awaken to the Love that surrounds you.
- Abide in Love.
All day. See and be Love everywhere.
- Rest in Love.
Each night. Let the Love wash over you.
Trust Love.
It won’t fail you.
Love never does.
